Who is eligible for a Long-Term Visit Pass (LTVP)?
An ICA LTVP is commonly used by foreign spouses of Singapore Citizens or PRs, unmarried children under 21 of eligible sponsors, parents of Singapore Citizens, and certain other categories set by ICA. ICA assesses each case individually; it is not an automatic entitlement.
Who can apply
The common ICA categories include a foreign spouse of a Singapore Citizen or PR, an unmarried child under 21 of an eligible sponsor, and (for a Singapore Citizen) an aged parent. ICA may also consider a common-law spouse or a parent accompanying a child who is studying in Singapore on a Student's Pass where that category applies; this does not mean a Student's Pass holder can normally sponsor a spouse for an LTVP.
What ICA weighs in the decision
ICA assesses each application on its own merits. The sponsor's income and ability to support the applicant, the duration and genuineness of the relationship, and the quality and consistency of the supporting documents all factor into the outcome. A well-prepared file with clear evidence matters more than the volume of paperwork.
